AgVend: Building an Industry Platform in Agriculture—And Why We’re All In

Vertical SaaS is magic for industry. It empowers small business owners and simultaneously transforms markets, making them far more efficient, productive, and useful for society. Yet in agriculture—an industry that sustains human life and contributes $1.5 trillion to the U.S. economy—digital adoption has lagged behind.
This is not for lack of need. Agriculture’s complex value chain, from manufacturers and wholesale distributors to retailers and farmers, is vast, fragmented, and still, in many ways, reliant on analog systems. The potential for digital infrastructure to bring more efficiency, productivity, and profitability to this essential sector is enormous.
AgVend
Enter AgVend––often called “the Apple of the space” by its customers. AgVend provides a digital engagement platform tailored for agricultural retailers, equipping them with a suite of tools—including a digital commerce portal, CRM, sales enablement solutions, and integrated billing and payment systems. The result? Greater operational efficiency, increased sales, and, most importantly, the ability for retailers to serve as true advisors to their farmers.
AgVend’s ambitions do not stop at retail. The company is laying the groundwork for a more connected agricultural ecosystem. In 2024, AgVend launched Nexus, an extension of its platform that reaches manufacturers and distributors, further integrating the supply chain. By streamlining digital workflows and bridging long-standing data silos, AgVend has the potential to make every stakeholder—OEMs, distributors, retailers, and farmers—not only more connected, but also more resilient and profitable.
We see AgVend as more than a software company. They own what we call a “control point” today—an indispensable node in the industry’s digital infrastructure—with the potential to become a true “industry platform” over time. That is no small feat, but the opportunity is vast.
Tidemark Investment
We first met AgVend’s co-founder and CEO, Alexander Reichert, in 2022. It was immediately clear that he possessed a rare combination of deep agricultural expertise and technological acumen. This was not his first foray into ag tech, and as we got to know him and the company, we saw something far beyond a typical Vertical SaaS business. AgVend is building the connective tissue for a digitized agricultural economy.
Over the past several years, Alexander has become an integral part of the Tidemark community, and today, we are thrilled to make that partnership official.
In Tidemark, we found more than just investors—we found partners who understand both the complexities of Vertical SaaS and the dynamics of agricultural technology. They grasp the enormity of what is at stake for the ag industry, and over the past few years have shown their incredible depth and community in Vertical SaaS. - Alexander Reichert, Co-Founder & CEO at AgVend.
The agriculture industry is at an inflection point. AgVend is at the forefront of this transformation, and we're thrilled to be part of their journey.
We could not be more proud to welcome this team into our community and partner with them to build a category leader.
